Orphaned donkey

The calls started about 8:30 am on Tuesday morning....all of them had the same question.  Would I be able to take an orphaned donkey?  I sooo wanted to take him, but I don't have a barn that would keep the little guy warm, since all my shelters are 3 sided except for the machinery shed.  Turns out, the gal that I have help me part time in my office has just as big a heart and after some begging and a little healthy shoving her in the right direction.......we were on our way to pick up the 20# fur with legs.  He is now safely tucked in a pen at her place with a heat lamp and her 2 dogs to watching over him.  If anyone would like to give this little guy a home in a few weeks, please let me know.

I'll just sit here until you go to sleep...........

  1. This is so sad! Poor little guy. Did he at least get some colostrum?

    If only they stayed little.....

  2. Poor little guy! How sad to be orphaned so young. He needs another donkey to teach him how to be a donkey! Did he at least get any colostrum from his dam?

If only they stayed so tiny!

  3. I don't know which I'm the most dumbfounded by - that you don't have ANY confined area in which to keep that incredible cuteness, or that you didn't promptly BUILD one so you could keep him! ;-)

  4. @ Michelle...it's also a case of not pushing my luck!!! giant grin!!!
@ Nancy~they didn't get any of mom's colostrum, but gave him some supplemental formula.
I think God has a way of easing our losses and sometimes they are disguised as baby donkeys. :)

He who angers you, controls you.

And my favorite.......You can't control what others say or do, but you can control your reaction.
